Does Frpas not support windows 8.1? Any alternatives?

I can record Videos but the sound is odd and playing back the videos makes my mouse freeze.

cheers

If you have a decent card then you can use shadowplay(nvidia) or raptr(amd).
They are both designed for recording sections of game play and work quite well, and are both quite configurable..
I've no idea if they work with on board graphics though.

If you want more configuration, control and power then try dxtory.

Got a 290....I can record the video..but the sound wont play back...I can import the video to sony vegas...I'll just have to play with the render settings..

cheers will check Raptr out mate...

If you just want to record videos then use this/try this at least. https://obsproject.com/

"Open Broadcaster Software is free and open source software for video recording and live streaming"

I use it on Windows 7 x64 Pro. You can set it up just to record your game play and change the output file/folder. I have no problems with it. I use it for both ways record & stream to people via twitch etc. It does say it supports 8 but not sure on 8.1. It is free so I guess no harm in trying. I found it much better than Fraps/Raptr.

There is loads of help guides how to use the Open Broadcaster Software, even Youtube have videos on it.

Hope this helps!

Oh forgot to add there is an 64bit version. It gets installed along with the 32bit. To find it go here:

C:\Program Files\OBS

Then make a short cut.

Note Don't go into the C:\Program Files (x86) - This is where the 32bit is.

Fraps is just bad. It was the only recording software but now there are free alternatives that are simply superior.

MSI afterburner is pretty good if you configure it with a custom codec.

FRAPS 3.5.99, build 15618 worked fine with Windows 8.1 64-bit. That's using on-board sound instead of a dedicated sound card.

fraps is better than almost everything ! its just people set it up wrong.

best to use are fraps and dxtory.

fraps works fine on win 8.1.

Mirilis action is what I settled on after trying out most of the FRAPS alternatives, OBS was a close second mind.

Records directly to MP4 at a very good frame rate and quality setting, also works brilliantly with Sony Vegas. 30 day free trial from what I remember and has a fairly easy to use interface - some of the mic options confuse people as you can record only audio or do audio/video etc.
