Hi Guys just wondered if any one knew what was going on here?

Basically just RAID "0"'d a couple of samsung 1tb spin points to see how it would fair and it pretty good so far - beat my old raptors etc.

However something wierd starting happening. Every now and again the PC just starts stuttering along. For example I was playing a tune in foobar and finishing off some installs and the sounds would suddenly click over and over again and then suddenly start playing ok again.

Then I burnt a DVD and when the disk spat out the same thing happened - tuk -tuk tuk tuk tuk tuk tuk tuk tuk EJECT! back to normal.

Could it be the write back cache in the intel matrix software - never happened with raptors so thats why im looking at the new samsungs in the raid0 as its the only difference.

Thanks guys

gonna reply to myself here - couldnt really justify 2tb's of data ending up on a stripe array - how much hassle is that - back ups etc.

So I put the raptors back in - turned off superfetch, indexing, windows defender and other such things that make the raptors chug. Vista now nice and fast with negligable chuggings going on.

So now sensible OS size and the 2 spin points are in a mirror array as a second drive.

Much more sensible and actually the raptors suite raid 0 better - like i said funny little lock ups with the spin points!!!!!!
