This isn't a medical thread as I have seen a physician.

Late Sunday night I went to the toilet as usual and found that I was urinating blood...this went on for a few hours pretty much every few minutes or so. I phoned 111 (which wasn't too much help tbh) who told me to just see my GP within 24 hours. Anyway this went on, getting worse with pain when I urinated so my wife called 111 again. This time (5am) they referred me to the out of hours Dr at our local A&E, who done some dip urine tests, which were inconclusive, so she sent it off to the lab.

Anyway she gave me antibiotics, said it was probably a urinary tract infection and it will clear up in a few days.

So here we are a few days later, and sure enough, the bleeding stopped shortly after beginning the antibiotics, the pain is almost gone as well. All well and good....

Or so I thought.

I call the doctor this afternoon for the results to the urine test, the receptionist said the results showed my urine tested normal and no further action was necessary...I though this was strange because if it was normal, why was I bleeding?

A call to the actual doctor and he tells me that because there was no infection I will have to go for a series of tests, cytoscopy, CT and so on on my bladder and kidneys. These should be arranged within the next fortnight.

So here we are, I am pretty worried tbh...doctor said not to be, as it could be just a kidney stone (I have no other symptoms) or a burst blood vessel, due to my age it unlikely to be bladder cancer...hopefully it's nothing serious but as one of my closest friends is dying from bladder cancer I'm sure you can imagine, only the worst is going through my head right now.

As I said, I'm not after medical advice, just a place to vent really.

****ing blood doesn't sound like much fun

I'm aware that boxers sometimes do so after a rough fight, which always slightly freaks me out, but at least they have a known cause.

Probably the doctor is right, that it's nothing to worry about. But, regardless, I'm sure it's pretty concerning.

Oh man, that sounds awful! Hope you're on the mend soon and I can see why it would be worrying, would be for me too!

Your doctor is right, here is no need to get worried. It as after all just a few precautionary tests to give you the all clear.

I've a cytoscopy before so I'm not worried about that, it's the 'unknown' nature of it all that's worrisome.

Someone told me that in many cases they never find out why, but I think that might be worse.

Aren't doctors fun. I remember when I had quite a bit of blood in my stool and was quite worried about it, I went for 3 separate examinations before they declared they weren't really sure what it was but it could be IBS but it could also be bowel cancer.... Oh...Nice...

Off I went to have a camera inserted where the sun doesn't shine, A barium Enema and a world of xrays...They even inflated me like I was a balloon at one point...only for them to come back and say they still weren't sure but as they didn't find anything nasty it must be IBS.

Best thing you can do is just get on with life while you wait, If you dwell on what it might be you can potentially make yourself sick. At the moment there is nothing you can physically do and it is all in the hands of others. Chin up, Back straight, March on.

I forgot I ate some beetroot a while ago and urinated red. Was pretty freaked out. Didn't know that beetroot did that!

While that may be, there is definitely a plus side if that's their conclusion!

Not quite the same but lol!!

Same thing happened to me mate.

They give me antibiotics aswell and after 2-3 days the blood was completely gone.

Lets hope everything is fine :)

Did they find out why?

This is pretty much what's happened to me, bloods completely gone after taking antibiotics (still taking them). They just didn't find an infection.

Not a pleasant situation at all, I do feel for you. Not sure how but try and take you mind off it. I found a lump on one of my stones before xmas.

Fortunately xmas kept it off my mind most of the time. Ultrasound said i was clear but still have a follow up with the doc in the next few days. Best of luck.

Thanks...the same for you, I hope it's all ok.

A while back my better half swapped out the toilet duck thingy for a new one. The new one happened to be red whereas the old one was blue. Imagine my shock as I stood up after taking a dump one day and noticing for a split second as I hit the button to flush that the water was crimson.

Jesus H. Christ, I swear for a few seconds I stood there thinking I'd been crapping blood for the last 10 mins. Cruel woman actually laughed at me. :p

Hopefully it isn't something serious, chances are it's something minor that looks worse than it is. (peeing blood, I would have probably fainted right there :) )

Whatever you do, don't Google the symptoms, you'll go out of your mind and end up self-diagnosing yourself with every disease know to man.

My friend had the same problem, he went for an ultrasound and they found nothing - it just went away, but I can imagine it was pretty frightening!

A few years ago I found a lump on one of my twins, that scared the living hell out of me - turned out to be a cyst and was all fine,

I'm sure everything will be fine, if you were feeling pain then I suspect it was some sort of inflammation,
