Freaking out!!!

Take it easy mate and relax current list of blood in pee is

Baldder infection
Kidney infection
Kidney stones <<<<I think this.
Kidney diseases

Blood in poop is the one to watch! ;)

Either that or you have fighting sperm and the match is getting bloody! :p

I totally broke down when my wife came home from work. It didn't help when I saw a little bit of blood back in my urine. I got to try and focus on something else.

I've been in a similar situation so know how you feel (no blood - different issue entirely). I had to avoid crying in front of the kids which was tough. Honestly there is nothing you can do without more investigation so try to not worry until that point.

It may be a kidney stone that has broken up. You don't always feel them and blood in your urine is one possible symptom. These are relatively harmless although can be painful and show no sign of infection of course.

It could be anything. Really anything. Most of them harmless. Try only to worry when you have something to worry about.

Quite terrifying when I imagine it happening. I'd definitely crap my pants or faint after seeing it. If it's stopped or almost stopped though, then that's got to be a good sign what ever it is. It's good that they're getting you in for tests so you'll know for sure soon enough.

I do sincerely hope it turns out to be nothing other than a scare mate. In the meantime play games and watch movies. You'll be fine, you've come out of worse!

Just to add my brother had similar symptoms a few years back. He was on an offshore gas rig at the time and because of family history (I had an issue down there) they airlifted him straight to hospital. Afetr some anti biotics it cleared up and never came back.

Probably nothing serious you see :)

A little alarmist!, IBS, Piles, Infections are all very common causes, then things like crohns disease etc.

I only say this since I get this symptom occasionally (on/off for 8 years) despite scans showing nothing.. Obviously it goes without saying, blood anywhere discussed shouldn't be ignored, but cancer is usually not the most common reason..

I never mentioned cancer at all?

Crohns disease is not something to be sniffed at either!

On topic :-

Doctor Itchy says kidney stones if no infection is found! :p

A stress induced infection? Did the stress produce bacteria or something?

The guy has a uti and the doctor was talking crap. End.

Trust Castiel to over-dramatise things!

On a serious note these things are incredibly unpleasant. I caught one off my wife last boxing day. Peeing blood and hanging around in a clinic, no fun.

It came from no where right at the end of a major project deadline where I had been working insane hours for a couple of weeks. I was shattered and a wreck and under extreme pressure. Doctor said it was that, that caused it (as it will in animals).

I'm pretty sure stress doesnt cause bacteria no, but it will reduce your immune system significantly. I have no idea if that was the true reason but it came back again 6 months later during another very stressful time.

That's what the doctor mentioned first over the phone, or a burst blood vessel in the bladder...my mate (not a doctor) reckons if it's anything it's probably just an enlarged prostate causing me some niggles...he might be right.

In all the reading I've done (stupid I know) apparently high levels of stress can raise blood pressure to levels that affect the kidneys ability to filter the blood and can cause blood in your pee...can't remember what it's called though.

There's also a rather common bladder condition that causes the internal walls of the bladder to leak blood. Chances really are its nothing.

reading horror stories on the Internet.

Honestly the worst thing you can do. I've had a couple of scares in the past and there really is nothing to be gained from bouncing around web horror stories. Throw yourself into a good book instead.

Wishing you all the very best!

I call the doctor this afternoon for the results to the urine test, the receptionist said the results showed my urine tested normal and no further action was necessary...I though this was strange because if it was normal, why was I bleeding?

A call to the actual doctor and he tells me that because there was no infection I will have to go for a series of tests, cytoscopy, CT and so on on my bladder and kidneys. These should be arranged within the next fortnight.

This is why doctors' receptionists should stick to being busybodies booking appointments and not dispensing medical advice.

Hope all is well in the end Castiel.

I experienced something similar recently. But I was mainly passing blood after cycling, long walks or shopping (sustained movement). Was put on two difference antibiotics over three weeks as the first diagnostic from the GP was an infection. After that didn't help I got referred to an urologist. Blood tests, Prostate exam, Cystoscopy, CT scan later (never been probed so much in my life) it turns out I have a kidney stone in each of my kidneys. Now on the waiting list for shock-wave therapy as they're both stuck :( This has all been going on since September last year.

As it's been said already the worst part of everything is the waiting and not knowing. If you've not done already, get your GP to refer you to a urologist. They're far more qualified in the area and will get you the tests you need quicker.

I know it's hard not to, I did it myself as it's easier said than done. But try not to look symptoms up on the internet. It will only make you feel worse! Getting the ball rolling seeing a specialist and proper tests will make you feel like there's some progress and hopefully calm the worries. Good luck mate!!

Thanks for that, I have been referred to a urologist, I should see one in the next couple of weeks.

Edit: and just as I posted this I get a call from the hospital to say I'll be in Tuesday morning. With the results given virtually straight away.

Possibly stress induced cystitis, although that is a bacterial infection so unlikely in your case. One of my dogs came back from kennels with it once after the proprieters decided to have an extensive birthday firework display

I've had haematuria a number of times in the past. The first couple (in my yoof) turned out to be UTIs. More recently, there was no infection so various investigations followed - cystoscopy, ultrasound, countless digits up the rectum (albeit not all at once). The only thing they found was a possible stricture but the initial symptoms eventually passed and all went away!

Good luck, though I'm sure it is nothing serious.
