Free back-up software ?

As I'll be backing up a hell of a lot of data, a nice quick comparison of files will be needed. I guess you are doing incremental backups. How do you find the speed of comparing drives?
I recently set up FreeFileSync for an acquaintance (a pro photographer), and he uses it to incrementally back up a folder heirarchy containing over two million image files - FFS takes about three minutes to scan/compare the source and destination (the latter being a local GbE network location).

Microsoft SyncToy is complete junk in comparison, and not really worth bothering with IMO - it's slow, feature-limited and none too reliable in my experience.

To not open new thread, I'm gonna ask here.

I'll be buying new system soon, so I need to backup all my old files, which ones:

-firefox logins via mozbackup
-outlook email just copy + paste? // any other solution? to keep intact email settings/logins/folders etc?

or just simple question to all of you.

What do you do when you change system? Thanks for answers.

For outlook you just need to backup your outlook.pst file. That will have all your emails and folders.

thanks hamster: what else in particular? for me it's pain in the ass mounting and setting up new system hehe.

Apart from Outlook.pst the only other things I backup from my OS drive before a fresh install are particular program settings:

Opera profile folder
Utorrent data folder

I also download all the latest versions of software and drivers that I use and either put them on a usb stick or onto one of my storage drives.
