Free delivery?

this must be the 34427883759th post about free delivery...

I dont think OcUK are going to change any time soon. Shame, becuase the ammount of small price orders they have lost out on would probubly ammount to a lot!

Then OC should do the decent thing and reply - even if it is a "your request has been noted" fob off

If OC want to keep up with other e-tailors then they should offer free delivery over certain £, also it will make a lot of their slightly overpriced items on par with others.

Couple of months ago i ordered 2 80mm fans from somewhere else and they were delivered for free next day. Cost of order less than a pint. :)
This is main reason why i deleted my account here weeks ago. :(

edit: deleted the price cos i think its against rules.

Free delivery on orders can be done, competitors do it and it is a very attractive offer.

I think we all know that it is more than likely OcUK make a reasonable amount of money from the City Link delivery fee that they charge. OcUK used to charge £8.99 of the top of my head for City Link Next Day, that is now down to £5.25, £3 an order for x amount order over x amount of years sure adds up.

OC have a constant presence in the forums, they've answered other things in the past, and i'm sure they'd much rather give one answer on here than have dozens of individual emails to answer.

I don't think we should have free delivery..

we should get *paid* to have our items sent by CityLink!

I'd rather risk my items getting sent by catapult tbh, the last lot was three days late and the box was crumpled.

I'm not really sure that we do need free postage. Their profit has got to come from somewhere and if they take a hit on the shipping costs then its got to be made up elsewhere. Thats how buisness works. :p If you look at some of the products they are selling, then their prices are usually pretty favourable. If you put a larger order together then it often works out cheaper. Smaller orders where it won't work out cheaper often wouldnt reach the cut off point for free delivery anyway.

PK!

read the replies - many people don't order here BECAUSE of the delivery charge.

Personally, unless i'm ordering full systems, i go elsewhere.

Give the people what they want, they might lose income from delivery charges, but most likely they'll make it up from hugely increased sales figures. Small orders might mean reduced profit, but large orders they should make it back easily.

Thats how business works.

To be honest all this debate is pointless without the facts. I'm gonna give OcUK a little credit and assume that they have looked at some figures and decided that the increase in revenue from extra smaller orders isnt worth the loss they'd get on the shipping.

I shop around too, people would be stupid not to. If I can get something cheaper elsewhere then I will, and then I won't moan just because the box didnt have an OcUK sticker on it. If OcUK decide they want to do something about their lack of small and medium order sales and change their pricing policy so it works out as a better deal overall then I'll switch and buy from them.

Thats how consumerism works.

PK!

Everyone harps on about free delivery meaning prices will go up but doesn't add up. There are competitors that offer free delivery and there product price is cheaper.

I'm going to give OcUK a little credit and give them and their officials an opportunity to post their say

This keeps getting mentioned. The delivery options are getting better. I think last time they offered free delivery, they didnt get as many orders as they hoped so decided it wasnt really worth it. I seem to recall someone saying that.

Oh and

+1 from me!

Yeah, but this time I will order from OcUK! :p

You might be surprised at how few people here are actually affiliated with the shop - off the top of my head you have Spie, Gibbo, Fatboy, Slackworth, RTB, Yewen and possibly JediFragger with a couple more who have worked for OcUK (apologies to anyone I've forgotten). That isn't all that many out of 30k+ members and some of those post rather infrequently.

Free delivery would be nice but I'm not sure it would sway my purchasing decisions greatly either way.

its not only about free shipping for me

a good service fast rma people who know what there talking about on the phone and overall basket price

its no good offering free shipping if your parts make up the price of it and it ends up costing more

its also no good saving £3 and having the worst customer service ever

some things are worth paying for imo

I would definately order more. Big orders are fine but it's when you need a single small item the postage makes a difference.
