Grrrrr said:Not entirely relevant but what do people see in virtual DJ?
It's horrible to use, you have to get different skins just to make the damned thing full screen and the sound quality is atrocious. Traktor is far superior although i can't get the damned thing to work properly on Vista
Smiley Man said:sorry i disagree theretraktor cant keep 2 beats matched for crap, you have to click sync every 2 seconds
my personal Pc fave for on the fly stuff is Torq but its not free, if you buy one of their midi controllers (X-Session Pro) you get a free copy of the lite version though
i've not found any software that can properly emulate decks apart from ableton, but that requires lots of setting up etc to get the most out of, but i would personally strech to £70 odd and get what i mentioned above:

wez130 said:fact, you don't have a 'sync' button on a set of decks, tracktor i've always found fine, better than the likes of atomix or anything else i've tried on the PC, learn to do it proper, like you would on decks and it's fine for mixing.
Smiley Man said:traktor cant hold a mix for ****, the beats always drift,
andy said:exactly what i found ,
you cant really compare software dj ing and "traditional dj ing anyway , both have there advantages and disadvantages.
the looping and effects etc of software and cdjs make them appeal allot more to me
as for them being "easier to use" who cares, when im out im too intoxicated to tell between perfect and good mixing anyway , aslong as the tracks are great and theres no trainwrecks im happy
Dark_Injection said:Ive never personally understood why people would even consider a computer program to really DJ ?!
I mean ok fair enough for messing around on, but to actually fully mix to?
Smiley Man said:i do mix on CD and vinyl, and have no trouble beatmatching on either
traktor cant hold a mix for ****, the beats always drift, if a technology thats been around for 100 years and involves plastic being scraped by a needle can hold a mix why cant a super duper computer program
krooton said:Erm, don't blame traktor if the mp3 doesn't have a steady bpm.
I used traktor for 2 years before I got my decks, using rips of my own records I made on my mate's turntables.
Never had any issues with slipping beats.
Smiley Man said:andy - out of all the dj software, traktor seems the worst when it comes to keeping beats in line
andy said:yeah i found the same, use vdj and a midi controlller or ableton when i can be bothered but it takes allot of work getting stuff set up if you want to use it "live" , should be buying some cdjs over summer anyway
