I have been using Avira free firewall as it has allowed Malwarebytes, but this has changed so am looking for another which will allow it and at the same time offre good protection.

Suggestions?

TY

They block MBAM? Really?

Use the built-in Windows firewall with a 3rd-party utility to give you more control.

They block it for the newest version.

I'm using XP right now and Linux; with Windows for gaming and Linux for just about everything else.

Been thinking for a long time of moving up to Win7 instead of XP, but XP works a charm as I've seen few reasons to change (still thinking of it though)..

don't download malware and you won't need malware bytes is the obvious one.

jokes aside I've only ever used the windows security features never given me any problems I used panda when windows 7 was in beta but have no idea if it blocks malware bytes because I've never had it installed.

Definitely upgrade to windows 7 you won't regret it. It's an excellent OS and the in house security features are big boost. Xp will be obsolete soon too many companies have already stopped updating drivers.

True. thinking of buying a ssd and just installing it. My pc is about 4 years old now and still playing well on all the games, but guess I'll wait till after Christmas to see what funds I have left over and just go for it. All Steam games are on a 1tb drive, so I guess it should be painless.

Avira free antivirus ... product ver: 12.0.0.1199

Have now been offered the 2013 version, which will cause the problem.

Oh, anti-virus, not firewall. :)

MBAM free & Avira free 2013 will run side by side. The uninstall prompt is just a warning.
