Free Haribo with my order

How is it? They've been paid for, so they're just giving them away to customers who purchase their products, the same as when you buy a pint for a friend.

Its illegal to send unsolicited items - IE anything you did not order. "Technically" the sweets could be considered unsolicited.

I think it's only illegal to ask for payment.

Edit : Hi Telescopi! I see what you done there!

nah its actually illegal to send it whether u ask for payment or not - Technically speakin ofc - keep sending em :D

I really don't think so. I'm quite sure I read the regulations on it, and it's illegal to seek payment for unsolicited goods... rather than illegal to send them.

Sweets in general, or would this go for leaflets too, and say we were chucking in free tshirts is that "technically" illegal too? I just cannot see how it is, and under what law? Seems like there is some confusion going on here.

Hope it's not illegal, Haribo should never be illegal, besides the sugar rush helped me get the new build together in record time :D

We recently did a big business order with ocuk, about 60 monitors and 30 PCs worth of parts.....got a bin bag FULL of haribo with that order :D .....not that they went in the bin, got given out to good students as rewards by our librarian :p

This haribo thing has me confused now lol

4-5 weeks ago, i place a bumper order, Z77, SSD 2500K, coming in around the 500 quid mark.

I get 1 little bag of Haribo

Yesterday, my 13 quid random bits order arrives, with 5 bags of Haribo?

how many bags would i get if i ordered some very cheap random bit from the WC clearance range? lol

I ordered a USB stick, to replace the one my sister in law half inched, it came through the door today and I got 0 Haribo.

I suspect 5UB ate mine :(

Its illegal to send unsolicited items - IE anything you did not order. "Technically" the sweets could be considered unsolicited.

The sweets are part of the standard ocuk order packing process and as each customer made the express decision to place an order any goods that make up that order, be they defined in the initial order request or not are therefore not deemed unsolicited.......if defered payment were to be asked for them, that would constitute a separate order, one not made by the recipient and it would then be deemed unsolicited.

So technically the sweets are part of the initial order made by the recipient and are therefore not unsolicited and thereby illegal.

I think I know what the confusion is... When it's said that sending unsolicited goods is illegal what's meant is the practice of sending unsolicited goods, then asking for payment for them.

I think that's what has Komedy confused. Here's a link for him. It's best in future to be more careful when you're stating what the legal position is.

Munching my haribo right now! recieved my psu and cpu cooler today while i was at work, this is my second order from OC did not receive any in my first £50 order, but did £120.. was excited as *Fully Star Out Swearing please* when i saw them haha.. ( haribo and my ordered products lol )

Its not illegal to include gratis items or free samples the unsolicited goods act just means that they are considered as unconditional gifts.

EDIT: Don't think its a legal requirement but "technically" gratis items should be listed as such on the invoice and free samples clearly marked as free samples but I think thats just an advisory and not a legal thing.

Disappointed!!!! I didn't get any haribo with my order today (tp link wireless adapter)

So I don't get free delivery with any worthwhile orders i.e. hard drives etc. and I don't get haribo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

:p

OcUK could just say it's one of a variety of packing materials they use, foam wotsits, bubble wrap, air pouches, and bags of sweets. :)
