Quick question to you all,

Any recommendations for games that can be played on LAN, about 50-60 people, that are decent and dont cost a bomb for 50-60 copies of the game. (free would be even better)?

That just tells you how to play the game in offline mode.

You still need the game installed on each machine - to that's 60 paid for games, because you install it without an internet connection.
no, they say for LAN, play in offline mode. Just download the game once, copy it between the machines log them all in + put into offline mode. problem solved :D

I know there might be some license issues with this, so if you're having any kind of official LAN event, I would talk to valve/steam and see what they come up with. For a large group of friends, I would just ignore it ;)

Thanks all, some good selections here. Will see what everyone wants to play.

Anyone know if there is a good racing game (Formula 1 preferably) (again, one that isnt going to cost 50 x £30) that can get a good number of people in LAN ?

(Trackmania aside)

Unreal Tournament (the first one) is dirt cheap now, shouldn't be much more than £1 or £2 last time I checked. I'm sure you could get a small contribution from everyone?

Serious Sam is also cheap and a good shooter for co-op (although the limit is 8 players for that, I think).
