I'd love pet chickens for free eggs, don't have the means at the moment though. Brighton is also quite a way away!

Hai guise, what's going on??

My mate has a couple of chickens, they are awesome. I'll see if he wants some more.

Its only down the road after all.

EDIT - HOLY UBER POULTRY BATMAN (might wanna resize that)

Bugger... i hope my gf doesnt find out about this... she wants a chicken and wants to call it henrik larson for some reason :(

As much as im up for saving animals... dont tell anyone! I cant run the risk of her finding out! :P

I have big enough garden, and would defo have one as I live in a little village. Shame I live nowhere near Brighton :( Do they do mail-order? :D

Ooh, interesting. Anyone know how many eggs are laid by a chicken daily?
1 per day per chicken.

Used to keep 7 myself, never needed to buy eggs and the ones they layed tasted far FAR better than shop bought ones, it was like a totally different kind of food.

I think the egg production varies by breed (some are better than others), with something like 300 a year being considered average.

I wish I still had the time/energy to have chickens, they are quite funny and interesting animals, and great for keeping the number of slugs/snails in the garden down.
We used to have a number of them*, and the eggs you get from them are about the best you'll ever taste.

*From memory speckled bantams (very small), Rhode island reds (big buggers), and some plain white ones.

Chickens are really good with children too, when being chased or doing the chasing hehehehe!

They make one every 25.5 hours :)

Cheers :D

Not really enough unless I had half a dozen, which tbh I dont have the time to keep.
Shame though.

Also wouldn't the neighbours complain from all the chicken noises ? depends on your neighbours of course :p

just had a wierd random thought....:p

If you had some chickens and you decided to slaughter one of the chickens in front of the others.......will they know and understand you just killed one of thier own and not like you very much.....be scared of you etc?:o
