Free or very cheap image editing software?

Hi,

Looking for something like GIMP for my shiny new MBP. I understand GIMP needs X11 and is only really for 10.4, so not so keen to install it... what else is there that's good?

There's Pixelmator or Acorn. You can have a look for other image editors on iusethis

Edit: There's also iPhoto although it's not a full on image editor but it's worth a look if it came bundled with your Mac

There's Pixelmator or Acorn.

I have both of those as well as Picturesque and to be honest I still prefer Aperture 2 but you cannot class that as cheap.


I'd say Pixelmator is the best budget editor.

Why not use X11 it work's fine in Leopard? Download the latest version from http://xquartz.macosforge.org/trac/wiki and GIMP works fine.
