Free Perfect effects 8

When you say before and after, are you saying you edited both from RAW? I couldn't get it to have anywhere near that level of processing. It just slapped a preset over the RAW file. Granted you can use multiple layers but in a quick use I don't think it's anywhere near as usable as Lightroom, etc.

Hi ElDude, both these shots were edited from raw by the programs listed.

I find dpp has great control over exposure - wb colour - noise and cropping and I used curves to boost the contrast.

With perfect effects I opened the image and used dynamic contrast and selected the natural preset. This gave a good start point to work from and I used the controls to dial in more mid range detail and reduced the large detail to keep it looking natural. I the upped the vibrance to boost the colours.

I agree that its best for landscape type shots and some of the presets are over done. It is a quick way to get feel for the direction to take when processing and you can alter the effects after you have selected them.

I know photoshop can do much more but I think of this as a quick way to try out different styles and its free:)

The 2nd looks so much better. I have the premium version but yet to play with it. Where was that taken?

Downloaded this earlier. As said, it is a bit clunky to use, but as it's for free i can live with that. What i can't live with though, is the prog crashing when i save an image i've just worked on. As luck would have it, i was working on copies of Raw files, so no damage done.

so far its running fine here not crashed once
as for crashing on saving it shouldnt harm any file even if its not a RAW as its working on a copy of your file and not the original file.
