Hi! I desperetely need free software that'll allow me to record my screen for a few seconds. It needs to be a sensible format, .mpg or .avi because i'm going to use the video to demonstrate something through a Power Point presentation

Thanks a lot :)

I use something called bulent screen capture or similar name to that . It's very good ,you can capture all, part or window and it saves it as a .avi file. I know theres othere like ScreenCam but I have had no problems with Bulent.

Snagit - it is pay for but maybe you can do what you want with the trial? As it outputs avi I think, not sure what the limits are on recording in the trial.

//Edit

I actually think the only limit in the trial is that the program lasts 30 days, I think you'll be able to record etc. with no limits.

Craig.

You can use all the features of Bulent Screen Recorder 3 during the trial.

It's pretty good. There are options to record all the desktop, a certain window, and there is also a handycam which records whatever you put it over, making it very flexible. :)

There is an option which only records when something moves, which I'd recommend, since videos can get pretty large if you are constantly recording, especially at the higher framerates.

Totally free :D

CamStudio is able to record all screen and audio activity on your computer and create industry-standard AVI video files and using it's built-in SWF Producer can turn those AVIs into lean, mean, bandwidth-friendly Streaming Flash videos (SWFs)

Here are just a few ways you can use this software:

* You can use it to create demonstration videos for any software program
* Or how about creating a set of videos answering your most frequently asked questions?
* You can create video tutorials for school or college class
* You can use it to record a recurring problem with your computer so you can show technical support people
* You can use it to create video-based information products you can sell
* You can even use it to record new tricks and techniques you discover on your favourite software program, before you forget them

I second this little beauty :)

I've used it to send little video clips to Cisco showing some nasty bootup/IOS errors :D Cisco engineers thought it was brilliant :)

But to be fair, i was using a hyperterminal window which wasn't that big, i've never used the program for anything bigger on the screen.
