Free PS3 with AOL broadband

My dad just s igned up for this it means we are SAVING £5 a month and gaining a laptop and talk talk as i don't need a second ps3 :D The laptop spec isnt bad either :D

My god that is tempting, i'm paying £22 a month to Plusnet atm, so the £24.99 unlimited deal from AOL looks good as this would also bring my phone bills right down.
The 40Gb cap is a little concerning, i'm assuming that would be 40Gb at peak times ?
Also is AOL ok with Xbox LIVE ?

mines fine with aol mate, just gota ring up and swap over lol. :)

Ok, the 40G thing... it sounds, from what I have been reading, that you get shaped during peak hours... some people are saying as much as 512kbs!!

This is BEFORE you reach your download cap, afterwards I can understand but before.

Think I am on AOL silver and dont get any shaping at all.

Free PS3 with every packet of Cornflakes

Are they really having that many problems selling them? Went into one shop and saw the 40gb version for sub £300 with any 2 chart games...

That's always been the price of the 40gb.

Take a look at the poll on this very forum a lot of people have one, Although the consoles were released at a silly price, They aren't a silly price now, and I wouldn't say Sony were struggling to move units anymore.

nope, it nearly sold as many as the 360 did in its 1st year, would say its on course to gain greatly this year seeing it sold so many units without having any real AAA games and for a long time at a high price in its 1st year. To be fair i think its done well when all things are considered and the amount of negative criticisms thats it had.

They gave away free 360's too, just a ploy to get you on a 24 month deal that would easily pay for 2 PS3's

I am not an AOL fanboy trust me but please show me a BB provider that is not only free but pays you to subscribe? That is the only way you would be able to afford £600 worth of PS3.

Think about 24 months @ £20pm is £480, the ps3 is £300 you get 2 years of broadband and a phone package for £180 :)

And there lies the problem. They really aren't a normal isp imo.

Most ISPs don't need to pay their customer's to subscribe. Have a think why that is.

Its still a good looking deal considering what we pay for the net in this house per month BUT with the shake up thats about to happen with regards to advertised speeds and hopefully pricing I wouldn't want to be locked to a long contract at this point.

I think they give you the PS3 as a way a future compensation to the god awful service you'll receive. That's a long time to be locked with an ISP like AOL.
