My current boot drive is a Samsung. I have a Hitachi drive (both SATA) that I want to make the boot drive instead, so I need a disk copy program like Norton Ghost or something, but free. Can anyone recommend something ? Sometimes the disk manufacturers provide a utility, but I see nothing on Samsung or Hitachi site. Thanks :)

Use any Linux live CD and use the DD command to do a sector-by-sector copy of a disk. It's Free Software in the Richard Stallman sense. :D

It should take about 20 minutes.

Acronis True Image is a great piece of software. Cloned a dying drive with the trial and it worked flawlessly, even allowed me to increase the partition size.
