Free/very good project management software?

What do people/people's employers use here for project management software? We're looking to purchase one (although free would be nice!) that manages basic projects, to-do lists, invoices etc.

Any recommendations would be great, especially online-based ones.

I know people use Freedcamp - and with my experience of this (and Basecamp which is is based on) - I wouldn't bother

There is also Collabtiv, which is open source and free to download. It's quite good - similar to Basecamp.
