Free VoIP?

Is there something I can buy, like one of these usb phones I keep seeing, or even just using my microphone - that will allow me to make free calls?

Is there a service that offers this? I don't want to pay any subscription, and I don't want to pay for the calls (after all this is was BT does anyway).

Doesn't matter if the calls can only be 10 minutes long, or at offpeak.

Just wondering really, as I don't know much about VoIP, other than my router supports it...

you can get usb voip handsets for your pc for around the £15 mark, as for free calls none that i am aware of offer voip to ptsn , although voip to voip is free

I use VOIPCheap, you can make free calls, but only for 1 min without putting any money on you account, but if you put on £10 (which lasts for 4 months), all UK landlines are free plus quite a few international (see tariff).

VIOP to VOIP is free.

So for £2 per month, you can have unlimited uk calls?
I see it says 300 mins per week in one place? So I guess you have to stick within that too?

So basically it's 5 hours a week for 50p? Not bad I guess.
