Hi all,

does anyone here know how to use freebsd or have any experience setting it up with mysql/php/apache? I personally have no idea but a client is requesting some work done so if anyone is available, especially if they can give me an msn contact, it would be greatly appreicated!

thanks

Essential you are looking at setting up a FAMP server ( FreeBSD , Apache, MySQL, PHP ). Quick google will provide a lot of tutorials for this, obviously a recent tutorial will be best.

Also the FreeBSD documentation is one of the best around, so check that out when you are looking at the ports system.

Few good forums if you fancy a look ..

We use NetBSD for one of our office servers (not my choice but hey..) i built all the packages from source as we had some pretty specific integration requirements.

It's not all that bad, theres plenty of info on the web to help you out.

Your homepage has just given me a virus alert on AVG Free 8.

What a night... thanks for the replies although I got so busy playing around with it I didn't even end up checking the thread! Server now running with MySQL/PHP/Apache/FTPD services perfectly, site is up, ASA configured and hopefully no more problems! Quickest ways to learn when under pressure :)
