Just a warning for anyone with a freeloader for the Wii. Don't install the latest update.

I installed the new Wii update this morning and the first thing I tried was to see if my freeloader still worked and it doesn't. :(
Just comes up with an error message making you turn the system off.

Not surpised as I was excpecting Nintendo to block it eventually.

This annoys me... I don't mind them blocking modchips but Freeloaders don't promote pirating games. If anything, I'm more likely to consider getting a modchip because Nintendo stop me from playing imported games yet seem unable to prevent those pesky pirates.

Eep. Glad I didn't update without thinking earlier. I've got the homebrew channel on mine!

Homebrew channel? hows that work?

I know about homebrew on the DS but never even thought of looking into it for the Wii. Saying that, my Wii hasn't been on in at least a month!

That really sucks, the only games we've bought for the Wii recently have been imports. I really don't see why Nintendo are against importing games for the Wii when the DS is region free.

This is kind of why i did'nt get the freeloader as i knew that N were going to eventually block it. Think i will wait for a solid release to come out that can be fixed with updates.

Anyway, i thought N were letting homebrew developers produce content?

Something other than official Wiiware i mean.

A Wii homebrew site suggests installing an app called 'Gecko Region Free' as a workaround to the Freeloader thing. Not tried it myself.. I'm still fine importing stuff from Canada for my NA Wii :)
