So, we're having a new aerial installed to allow us to get a decent Freeview signal, and we also need to purchase a Freeview box.

So far, have been looking at the Hitachi HDB70 - any opinions on it?

Also, we need an additional RF out like the old SkyDigibox used to have so we can feed a TV upstairs but i have no idea if that Hitachi box has this as i can't find any pictures of its back. Is that what "RF loop" means?

Thanks for any help :)

take out the competitor mate before someone takes it out for ya.

and yes rf loop means ariel in and out - not all will put a digital signal through the output though - best get it and try it if its no good just take it back under the 16 day thing.

What's classed as a competitor seems to change all the time here, it didn't used to be but i guess that was a while ago! Duly noted and removed.

Thinking about it, i could always use scart to the TV it sits under and coaxial to the TV upstairs. Job's a gooden.

Would be nice to know if anyone has any opinions on the Hitachi but as you say, i can always take it back.

Ta.

You need to find one that has 'RF Modulator' listed in the specs. Not sure on specific boxes, but that should help you find one :)

Well, got the one mentioned above and all is going well - picked up loads of Freeview channels and is very impressive for the amount it cost. Only slight problem is it works fine over scart but i cant seem to tune the TV in over the RF/coaxial/aerial connection. Tried it on two different TV's, the scart works fine but when trying to tune it in using the coaxial it doesnt work? Just picks up the usual terrestrial channels but nothing from the box?

Any ideas?

Just found out my answer to the above - its because the RF loop only passes out an un-interupted signal from the aerial (if i understand correctly), and the SCART outputs the digital signal...but the digital wont be outputted through the RF out!

Im happy now, going to buy a second one for the bedroom :D

The Humax F2FOXT has an RF modulated output which will do what you want. Not that thats really any use to you now unless you wanted to return the box you have already bought
