So I could get this if eg I had sky for 12 months then cancelled my contract. So I would still have the box and dish, and just pat £20 to get freesat?

Yes. This is the best way to do it really. Just go with Sky for a year, get the half price for 6 months and standard channel package and it comes to around £154 for the year.

Then cancel after the year is up, and the card automatically reverts to a Freesat card.

If you go with Freesat now, it costs £150 all in so you might as well subscribe for the year and get some premium channels for 12 months.

That's not my house mate ,i've taken the piccy from my window :)

As for the aerial, im going to get a nice one from the high street. It should solve my problems, as sometimes i can pick up E4, More4,ITVx,5 with a signal strength of 1/10.

Thanks people :)

It looks like the crystal palace transmitter but I have no idea why the aerial isnt pointing at it.

I still think you should just split your roof signal. Crystal Palace is 1mW (iirc)

So I expect your signal is coming in at >75Db.

Local Radio is broadcast from Crystal Palace TV transmitter and most of London radio comes from the Wrotham transmitter.

So tbh I am unsure what that other transmitter is

Was trying to find info just find it strange that croydon has a local aerial next to a main one must be that most of the signal from main one goes over croydon so we have a little local one :D Also theres a rely transmitter in south croydon somewhere in old town

How do i know if my house has got an airial on the roof, is it a case of

"oh look, theres the aerial" or is there another way? im probably coming across as real thick right about now, and to add to this im guna say this.

I didnt realise freeview needed an aerial, i thought it was done in the same way an FM radio was or something, asin, you needed a small arial to pick up the signals. If my room has a television point, and can recieve normal terestrial Tv, and im in a freeview area, does this mean a freeview box will work fine in my room?

Not neccesarily could be pointing at one of the non-digital transmitters in and around Bristol, good chance you could be on Montpelier which is Non-digital.

Go have a look for an aerial outside.
