Freeze Issue

Hi all,

I wonder if anyone could help out here.

For years I have had my HDD's (WD's) set up under the Power Management to go to sleep after 5-10m of inactivity and they would only wake up after accessing them.

For some reason, my drives are waking up randomly without me accessing them at all. It's as if something is accessing them and they wake up just then, for example this could happen when watching a movie (that's not from that HDD) and they wake up or playing a game for example?

That on it's own it's weird and I would like that to stop.

Another weird thing is that when the come back up / wake up, the entire system "locks up" / freezes momentarily for like 1-2-3 seconds... Very odd.

Is there some kind of software that can tell me what is accessing them?
Why is the entire system locking up?

Is there a better way to setup the HDD's to turn off other than in Power Management in system and if so how / where?

Any other suggestions are very welcome.
