Freezing on Bootup?

So, after plugging in my SSD drive yesterday into the wrong connector on the PSU causing 12v to go through instead of 5v the PC won't go past the initial start up screen.

I've tried disconnecting all Hard drives but still it's not responding when I press Del, Tab ect. to get into the BIOS.

The motherboard is a Gigabyte G2 Killer, could it be that the motherboard is broken?

Or would a new SSD with the windows 7 disc in be the best option?

Any help is much appreciated!

Cheers

Ahhhh got ya i thought they were shaped so as not to fit the wrong socket, but its been ages since i swapped cables around.
Hope it ends up ok for you

Thanks man!

Well I tried the reset CMOS switch, pressed it and the motherboard fired up to the same screen again. Still I can't get into the BIOS to fix anything.

Although when I press Cntrl+Alt+Del it goes past the start up screen, mouse turns on, screen goes off then goes black then back to the start..

So, would a new SSD and windows 7 in the drive get past this and install it fresh?

Cheers for the help!

Can you test the psu in another machine?or test this machine with another psu?

if you can`t get into the bios then no

Yeah, I do have another PSU I could try it with.

Could it be the actual motherboard that's been affected? Since the SSD wasn't secured in the front of the case (Corsair 800D, with swappable drives) and was in the middle. Could it be that the shock has someone transferred into the motherboard?

Cheers

Possible that the volts have fried the mobo.Try another psu first and other usb sockets
maybe a different keyboard to rule out a blown KB? As Wazza said

Will try a new PSU tomorrow as just making some fish and I like to be still in the evenings lol

Tried different keyboard and different USB ports, 3.0 and 2.0, still no luck.

After a few minutes it goes past the setup screen and it's all black apart from at the top let looks like an underscore flashing. I can't do anything, not even cntrl+alt ect...

Just hope the Titan survived :/

Could it be a RAM issue as well?

I don't think it would boot up if the titan died,it would hit a gpu detection error and loop

that underscore means no os/hdd/ssd to boot into

no idea why your kb isn't working though

a reflash of the bios might cure kb/mouse

Phew haha.

Well the keyboard works, but I only get a response from it when I press Cntrl+Alt+delt. Otherwise I can't get into the BIOS ect. Where it says, press TAB to ... Press Del to... Press F12 to... ect.

I think it might be the motherboard...

I've got a new SSD coming tomorrow so I'll try and install windows onto it and if no luck I guess it's a new mono.

Cheers

So I managed to take a few photos, seems a couple of things have burnt out. Also the middle chip (for the lack of a better word) looks a different colour to the rest.

Nothing I can see on the mobo. I doubt it's the PSU as the motherboard is responding only to cntrl alt delt.

I've tried a new SSD with windows in the drive and still nothing, even after it goes past the post screen it still flashes with an underscore top right. So I'm guessing the motherboard has had it. Got a new one on the way so will find out soon!
