Freezing on Bootup?

Just had a few more thoughts :)
Can/have you tried other sata ports?on a different controller if the mobo has it
Also have you used a different sata cable to eliminate that?
Finally that mobo has a dual bios, have you tried to boot from the other bios?

Didn't think of those things! Will try a new cable and different pots. How would I know if it has a different controller?

How do I boot from another bios?

Thanks man!

Don`t think that mobo has 2 separate bioses unfortunately :(
But it has a 3gb sata and a 6GB sata

  1. 2 x SATA 6Gb/s connectors (SATA3 0/SATA3 1) supporting up to 2 SATA 6Gb/s devices
  2. 4 x SATA 3Gb/s connectors (SATA2 2~SATA2 5) supporting up to 4 SATA 3Gb/s device
  3. so it says on the gigabyte site

Well, new mobo arrived today installed and still exact same problem. Can't get into bios or anything, only Cntrl+Alt+delt works which resets it back to the startup screen.

If left it goes to black screen with an underscore flashing top right of screen.

Tried a different PSU also, still same issues.

Now, must be CPU or RAM right? Got some RAM available today from my bro's PC, so will report back if that's the issue!

Thanks again

:(
feel for you mate
hope it works with the ram, otherwise you are going to have to buy new parts to eliminate the faulty bit/bits
Can you borrow a known working cpu?
Slim possibility it is the case switch, try unplugging case switch and shorting the pins

If you feel for me then you shouldn't be sad, it's a happening. Just like a twig getting broken on a branch and a car going into a river, just a happening. You react to the happening :)

Haven't got a a CPU to test.

Just tried my bro's RAM and still same problem tried my RAM in his PC and registered no problem, so must be a new CPU time!

I was looking at the 4930K? Looks pretty good!

Cheers

So, I've changed the CPU and now I have a different problem lol. As I turn the PC it starts for about 2-3 seconds then switches off, then 3 secs later starts and repeats this.

Any ideas whats going on? I've checked all the cables and they seem fine...

Cheers

could it be shorting ?
try building and testing outside of the case
Are you now using all new parts?or is some from the old build?

I don't think it would be shorting. This problem arose when I changed the CPU... I will check today but I'm 100% certain is was all aligned up properly. Maybe it's not quite sitting right?

RAM is from old build but tried my brothers and still same issue..

Took GPU out and still the repeating boot. Tried old PSU and still same issue, then after that the PSU broke lol

Right lol Now new CPU in and exact same problem. Can't get into any of the start up motherboard options. Only Cntrl Alt Delt works and that just restarts the PC back to the same thing...

Tried all components so I guess it's the case? Interfering with the motherboard somehow?

Any help is much appreciated!

Cheers

If you can get it working OUTSIDE of the case then when you put it ALL back inside i would agree it must be the case, standoff in the wrong place?
Some of the `builtin` bump type standoffs can be in the wrong place and require covering them with insulation tape

or a dodgy power switch on the case, try unplugging the case switches then short with a screwdriver or something :)
