Can anyone recommend me any decent french films?
Ive seen a few and enjoyed them
Listed below with Ratings:

Banlieue 13 - 9/10
Science of Sleep 7/10
Angel-A 6/10

Im sure there must be some more gems out there!!

Thanks

Banlieue/District 13 is certainly good although the accents are utterly shocking. :D

Taxi (1, 2 and possibly 3) is good, not to be confused with the ill-advised remake with Queen Latifah. Very entertaining and spectacularly silly.

Dobermann is quite good and rather violent.

Amelie is supposed to be quite good although I've not watched it personally.

I can't think of any more at the moment I'm afraid. :)

Delicatessen is a good, fun film. Also check out BBC3(or 4) mini series called Spiral it has just started a re run in readyness for a new series.

amelie - grrreat

irreversible - really good film ,wont deny its messed up though

switchblade romance (aka haute tension or high tension) - good french horror , good plot twist makes it messed up, goryish ,fit french lesbos. all those combined make it worth a watch :p

first 2 are 2 of my all time favourite films

Dobermann
Alice et Martin

Hmm I always watch Brotherhood of the Wolf with the original french soundtrack.

Amelie
Taxi 1 + 2 (watch 3 aswell but its poorer, and 4 has just come out recently :) )
Irreversible is quite disturbing, that what makes it such a good film though

yup , and every part of it in it has been done so well to make it more and more disturbing , theres the freaky camera angles and cutting between scenes.

and the soundtrack , especially in the first half just fits the film amazingly well.

everything just adds to you feeling uneasy

one of the greatest done films of all time in my opinion

although some people slate it because of "that" scene and it may not have been as popular without all the controversy

La Haine is good but make sure you get the version with proper subtitles.

C'est arrivé près de chez vous (Man Bites Dog) - excellent film, not one to watch with the missus though.

37°2 le matin (Betty Blue)

People have mentioned some great films already but try Belleville Rendez-Vous, it's an animated film and is amazing. Nominated for loads of awards including 2 Oscars (didn't win though) so highly recommended
