Just came in to a let’s connect you to a network screen. My son decided to do a fresh install of windows 11 via usb and I have no idea what’s gone wrong. Any help appreciated.

Ok so just incase anyone else has this issue on a Z790 Hero when doing a fresh install of windows. If you get to the “Connect to the internet” screen and can’t get any further press shift f10 and enter OOBE\BYPASSNRO
Once you’ve got passed this stage when you finally get into windows as soon as armoury crate pops up to install click yes and this should get you online. If this doesn’t work, you would have to download your chipset drivers to usb from another pc.

Going to need more info than that. What do you see? Can you provide any photos of said screens? Is there any specific questions you need answering?

What you asked is a very opened ended question.
He’s tried to install Windows 11 via usb. It’s now stuck on the “let’s connect you to a network” but for some reason it won’t let him proceed. I asked him what he did step by step. He said he deleted everything so it was a fresh install.

Then connect the system to a network? i.e WiFi or by Ethernet cable. and follow instructions when it pops up.

That’s the thing it won’t connect to the internet. I’ve bypassed that part and when eventually getting into windows, it will not connect.

Ethernet. I’ve checked everything including network adapters etc. it will not connect no matter what I try.

Unplug it, plug cable into another port (and try another cable). If that fails then it could be drivers.

I would then be tempted to uninstall the network driver in device manager and reboot see if installs again. Then try again connecting.
Ive already tried the cables. I’ve checked bios settings etc, and everything is as it should be. I haven’t tried uninstalling the driver yet. If that doesn’t work I’m going to have to try reinstalling windows. I can’t see what he’s done that cold have caused this.

Won't have done anything specifically, if it's a new install then it will more than likely be the driver if nothing else has changed.

Check in the zen 4 thread in the last 10 pages or so. Someone provided way to bypass that. Needed to get the console up and start default experience or something like that to get around the network issue.

Here

I’ve reinstalled Windows via usb again got the same “stuck on connect to the internet” bypassed that and armoury crate popped up as soon as I got into windows. I asked him if he tried that he said “no I didn’t want it it’s useless so closed it down” as soon as I clicked ok….bingo everything’s as it should be. Was starting to get worried. I’ve tried 2 cables, restarted the router etc.

oh ok so it's resolved now?
Internets working. Don’t know why accepting to install armoury crate fixed it, but it did. Hopefully I can uninstall it without any issues. I wonder if it was conflicting with it somehow because nothing else worked apart from that.

Thanks for your help. Much appreciated.

Might be ethernet drivers but anyway should still work on a fresh install. Look at device manager. Maybe start again from scratch.
Yes very strange. Even when doing a second fresh install it was still exactly the same until enabling armoury crate.
