I took this in Ulsan as I was signing off from the vessel I'd recently been serving onboard. It was handed to one of our resident 'decknonces' by a stevedore in the Port of Kobe as a souvenir of our visit to Japan. All I have to add is; Seriously Japan, WTF?
And thar she blows! The mighty Tortugas (the orange and white vessel, centre), a Norwegian owned, UK flagged car carrier where I'd been learning the engineer's trade for the past 4 months, viewed from a tender as I sped across Ulsan harbour on my way home. I'd met some awesome people (and one socially stunted Ginger poster child for retrospective abortion admittedly), been to some awesome places (Singapore, back to Europe, down to South Africa, across to Australia and up to the Philippines where we spent 16 days in dry-dock, before then heading up to load in Japan & South Korea). Good times, I'll admit I did have a little lump in my throat looking back on her as she faded into the distance.
Mobile photos taken with a HTC Desire, hence the crappy quality of the last, sorry.
I don't think it's quite as simple or as flippant as you make out, but yes, he will now be a she and is documenting the effects of hormones over the months.
