Depends if its the gold proof version or brass nickel common circulation version. I dont collect coins or know that much except how they might relate to metal commodity prices, nickel is rising in price recently such that a usa nickel coin is worth more then its face value.

Also some old pennies made from copper may exceed 1 or 2p worth of the metal and so on


Really it depends on the condition and other collector factors, nickel can look goldish but its very unlikely to be the real deal, weigh it

Why would your sister say it's £5.00 when it says 'Two Pounds' on the back? :p
