Its for both observing and astrophotography. I went for the newt instead of a refractor because of cost and aperture. Its the same mount as yours NEQ6 Pro SynScan, I was shocked when I first felt the weight of this thing! can I ask what AH that battery is? and how long does it last? I've got 2 17Ah batteries that last forever on my Az mount, I got a felling I will need some new ones now though. :D

100Ah, all 20Kg of it! Max current delivery 820A.. so better not short it! The idea was to be able to run a mount, cameras, scope dew heaters and an inverter for the laptop for a good 8 hours.
You could get away with a 40 or 50Ah without a problem to be honest. I figured that it would be more annoying if it ran out of power during an imaging run (align/eqmod setup etc) than adding 20Kg to the 40Kg for the mount, 10Kg for the associated scope, camera etc.
