I assume the point is that it's a commentary on the suppression of thought, and how conforming to societal norms can impact adversely on creativity. I just thought another angle could have been an observation of the fact that a genius with a massive idea is often shunned and ridiculed initially, but ends up being accepted and then often practically worshipped.
