Leather comes from cows which are killed for meat. Fur comes from animals that are killed only for the fur.

There's no hypocrisy. You've got to accept a LOT of cows are being killed anyway for the meat industry, nobody is eating mink etc.

That's why I made my ethical shift a couple of years ago. I eat meat no more than twice a week and always organic, free range or minimum outdoor bred.

I get that animals are part of our diet and I really enjoy eating them, I just want no waste and no poor treatment.

There is to an extent... there are cows killed for meat & their pelt wasted.... and cows killed for pelt & their meat wasted.

The "industry" is not as efficient as most may assume it to be.

I like the idea of the Native American version of this... using all the animal is reasonable and fair under the guise of "need".

When and where this need turns into non-necessity and greed... that is where I take issue with the whole thing... we are perfectly able to survive with no meat intake and drive an over-inflatory industry to feed our greed... nothing more... just greed... and it is blatantly abhorrent... almost as bad as the fur-only industry.

Self-sufficient and whole-serving, whole-utilising industry offering fair treatment and non-abuse to animals which share only a slightly different consciousness to our own... is at least reasonable. But there is massive abuse going on... the treatment is ridiculous... animal rights are the next slave rights... they are not as "dumb" as we have been taught... I assure you of that ;)
