Is that a picture of a US plane refueling a Russian jet?

It's an F16. AK on the tail denotes it as coming from Alaska (state code/abbreviation).

And while looking up the serial number I found a page detailing some of it's history. According to that, 86263 is (currently) part of the 18th aggressor squadron which is part of the 354th Fighter Wing of PACAF which is based.... out of Alaska.

Excellent information, cheers. Borderline FSX enthusiast, but obviously not to a high enough degree. The differences (mainly twin engine, dual tail fin) are obvious when compared side-by-side.

I suppose I just didn't understand the significance of the pic, and read too much into it!

It's an easy mistake to make as that colour scheme is usually associated with Sukhoi aircraft, so mentally most people will see it and think Su-27/35 straight away.

Ironically the Americans used to laugh at the silly commie idea of painting clouds on planes.

Pity they changed their minds really as I pref US planes without camouflage:
