I disagree, sir. Barely any were completed, their extreme weight was patently incompatible with the transport networks of the day, and they had little to no anti-aircraft provision. In the late-war period, Allied air control was supreme and dedicated armour-hunting aircraft roamed the skies. The slow-moving, expensive-to-support-and-produce Maus would not have lasted long enough to be of any significant influence. I'm no expert, but I'd say the Panzer V Panther was probably the most influential to later designs. :)

Yeah, the Third Reich didn't exactly think the Maus through. For that exhibition, the museum had to construct the building around the tank, if I remember correctly.

It worked fine, in fact it was so good that after the battle the USSR went to great lengths to repair it so it could be taken home and it influenced future tank design.

Germany was actually planning an even bigger one more than twice the size called the Ratte.

Anyway here's a T28 super heavy tank (not to be confused with a Soviet T-28 medium tank), which was quite sprightly at ~86 tones:

I just find it amazing that at that weight it was even functional, its by far and away massively heavier than any other kind of tank actually made yet. Wonder if there's any foundation in the story that one of them was buried by a bulldozer in combat.

So you caught the spider, then thought you'd see who'd win against a cat?

Not cool :(

to be fair pitting it against the cat wasn't intentional, i actually released it and the cat was near by and caught a glimpse of it then it turned into a hunt lol (once again sorry for the bad pictures)

this is it running past the cat.....

Images over 1,280 pixels wide should be placed in spoiler tags as I've done for you.

Cheers
