Recent fresh Windows 10 install, the only hardware that was changed was the motherboard, CPU and GPU. Since the hardware upgrade and fresh OS install my generic storage HDD keeps spooling up seemingly at random, like I'll just be chilling watching YT or something and which it didn't do before. I'm assuming it's some kind of Windows process or something, so any ideas what? I don't want to nerf it in any way becuase I do use it quite a lot so don't want to have to keep waiting for it to spool up when I do.

Windows Power Plan = High Performance

So you want it to be spinning all the time so you have instant access to it? If so

Power options>change plan settings>change advance power options>hard disk> turn off hard disk

Set that value to 0

Um not sure really, not sure how it was configured before, never really gave it much thought. I assume having it spinning all the time will reduce its lifespan? I've probably had it like 10 years and it's still chugging along. I could do with changing it soon.

Resource Monitor (comes with windows) will tell you that on the Disk Tab.
It shows you all processes and what files each of them are accessing in real time.

Good idea, I'll see if anything specific is causing it to spin up.
