Friday Poll : The Human Body

It beggars belief that this question has even been asked? How bloody stupid are you?

I dont think it was as much to do with internal organs etc, more the length of arms/legs etc.

Anyway, its shut a few people up in the office this morning so mission complete!

It doesn't matter what it was to do with. It's still a stupid question.

We're not symmetrical at all really - but it is quite close.

One arm is longer, one leg is longer, one testicle/breast is bigger, one foot is wider/longer etc...

Symmetrics is largely determined by embryogenesis, but there is an element of random differentiation during the development process.

Since when has a forum full of lazy admins, students, emo kids and work shy losers been admissible evidence in an argument? ;)

In defence of this thread, I too work in the same office. The original debate was about the human body being symmetrical, it was not defind down to half a mm, obviously there is going to be at some point a difference - but OVERALL in the sence of the word symmetric the human body is - arm on the right, arm on the left, leg on the right, leg on the left etc...

I think the original post was being way to specific, and obiously no one is as stupid to think that its going to be exact to a MM!!!!

If that was the case, you were right. A bit obviously so, though?

Look to you left, take note, look to your right, take no... Oh my God what the hell is that? That's not on my other side!

As far as I understood from the reading I did for my final year dissertation at uni human bodies are gentically, but not developmentally, symetrical....externally. This is the basis for the evolutionary theory of symmetry being attractive as a health certificate.
