Just bought a new fridge freezer and the instructions are a bit confusing. Does anyone know what its for and if i'm missing something as there is no spacer that I can see.

Also, it doesn't mention if you have to leave it to stand before plugging it in. I remember on my old fridge I had to leave it 24 hours to let something settle after transit. Is this still the case with modern fridges?

As long as it has been transported vertically you will be fine switching it on after a few minutes.

Is the spacer required for your model?

I think so, the model number is RB29FSRNDBCEU.

So is it just a block of foam to keep it away from the wall to leave an air gap? There was definitely no spacer block in the packaging, so i guess i'll have to use something else.

usually you get 2 crappy peices of plastic you slap on

just keep the fridge/freezer about half an inch from the wall

yes the coolant must settle ,unless your sure it's been vertical the whole time

AFAIK it's so the compressor doesn't run dry and burn out

I would say it Always best to leave it stand for 4 or 5 hours before switching it on....

It is so the oil in the compressor isn't pumped into the system, nothing to do with the gas.
