As the title says... only found out last week a good mate of mine plays wow to the extreme..... When i stopped and thought he actually hasn't bothered coming out much to town etc over the passed few years.... anyways i spoke to him this week and he decided to give up his job as it was getting in the way of his gaming time!!

Gobsmacked.... his job was pretty good, he lives with his parents etc so rent and monthly bill’s isn’t an issue!

If i'm honest i'd love to be able to do it but in the real world i need my job to of course pay for the more important things. I think the gaming industry as a whole could makes us all work shy once we get the bug… SHOCKING!

Wonder how long his parents will keep hime for. The guy is an idiot, whenever he is back in job market they will want to know what he has done since his last job. Telling them 'I left work to concentrate on wow' will not cut it. I know i would never employ him.

haha.

He's 26. Honestly if you'd met him you'd be surprised. He actually really intelligent, got a 2:1 in something.. cant remember what.

It just shows imo how deep the public is getting into gaming... even people who have never really been into "gaming" are starting to try out MMORPG's... and lets face they are like crack cocaine

How is he going to pay for the electricity bill and his subscription? Not to mention future expansion packs.

If i was his parents, i would sort him out asap before he decides to harm them for sorting him out.

I'm lucky in this regard every mmorpg that ive touched i've hated because of grinding , so playing wow and getting addicted was never going to happen :D

He doesn't pay anything to his parents. They live in a faily big house so must be ok money wise.

I suppose £80 every 2 weeks will easily cover the subscription and half a weeks dole money will buy the expansion + Mammy and Daddy could always lend him i suppose!

Lets be honest tho wes personally i could easily pull the wool over my parents eyes and make it look like i'm actively looking for work... we're in the middle of a recession which makes it even easier to hide from work!

SHOCKING.

The worst thing of all tbh tho is like in 5 - 10 years down the line when he thinks "hmmm i now want a wife/kids etc" he'll have the shock of his life with no job, no savings, no passed experience.... just has to start from the bottom and work up!!

I love Age of Conan atm, i want to play it pretty much everyday as well as LoTRO for the Summer Festival that's going on, but i'm 22, and i know i have to work to continue playing those games and also for my future.

Technically anyone who lives with their parents could give up work and easily survive on "dole" money if your basic's are taken care of by your parents.

But he will have lots of ep0czzzzzzzzzz11!1!!1

find him and slap him yo be honest :p the game can be addictive but that is just plain retarded. Plus his pron bill will go through the roof now as will never het a woman :p

I had a friend who quit his uni course and just played WOW all day every day for about 2 years but he was a lot younger and now has a proper job and house. I used to play games all day then night then go to school/college then back to play some more. Now if i play longer then 6 hours i feel like i should do some real world work to balance it out :)

What is he using to pay for the monthly subscription? And the broadband?

Also surely he must pay something to his parents for upkeep?

Oh wait, I just read he doesnt pay anything to his parents, well thats out of order for a start imo. Scavvy piece of scum.

Can he even get the dole? I thought you couldnt claim the dole if you had voluntarily left work?

I have no idea if he is claiming the dole or not, i'm out this Friday and pretty sure he's coming out as its for his best mates bday so i will quiz the bleep out of him!!

On another note.... i never paid any rent at all EVER to my parents. They just made me pass my driving test, buy a car and pay for the up keep... Pretty cool parents actualy lol! Never did me any harm... i'm married now, 3 month old baby girl, have a new 3 bedroom house with garage etc ;)

Who paid for your driving lessons and the car?

I guess its different for all families, but personally I find it abhorrent that an adult who could perfectly well pay their way and help with the bills (for stuff that they are using) doesnt give anything at all to their parents. Whether asked to or not. Sponging little gits. When I was living at home (though admittedly I bought my own house at 22 so it wasnt as long as your friend), I always paid £20 a week towards the upkeep and food/bills etc. Wasnt asked to do that but it was the right thing to do, its a home with bills not a hostel after all.
