A friend of mine has asked me to build him a gaming rig with a budget of £8-900. I have 16GB of Hyper X RAM I will sell him for cheap and he has a fairly new monitor (1080p).

So he needs a mobo, CPU, GPU, PSU, case and keyboard/mouse. Actually I have an unused mouse I can sell him cheaply.

I don't game at 1080p, am I right in saying it needs more CPU grunt? I would suggest Ryzen 3 but with prices for the motherboards looking quite expensive I'm thinking perhaps second hand Intel/Ryzen2?

What's about for new that would do fine?

I'm trying to get a list of games from him.

ryzen 3600 and B450 .

rzen 3600 roughly - $252 - covert to $ is £198 then add 20% VAT - looking at roughly £230-40 - slightly more then ryzen 2600x which has been dropping in price but single core and all core speed is much faster which is needed for 1080p gaming ! - although if they dont have a 144hz screen - should get away with it to be honest !

i5 9600 is a place holder for ryzen 3600/X
Vega 56 is place hold for Navi RX 5700 Pro

Without knowing if user has any experience from mechanical switches very light linear switch might be bad choise.
And that Silverstone has pretty minimal 3 year warranty, so suspects quality of insides isn't that high.
