Friendly Warning: MSN Virus

Oh dear looks like Kreeeee fell for it. I got that message from him. Luckily I knew that a pif file is dodgy.

Am I right in thinking you only get infected if you chose to download a pif file? Cuz I clicked the link and got something about nodes but no download option...

Its gotten around very quickly as someone on my contacts list had it, I usually dont fall for that crap but it was someone I hadnt spoken to in ages so I clicked it and NOD32 picked it up and terminated it - you can tell if you are infected as it brings up all contacts on your list and sends the link. Its kinda amazing to think how fast they must get around and they must eventually die off too?

avoided

I clicked on the link, and was presented with firefox asking me to download a .pif file. Now if it had been a .jpg file i would probably have gone ahead, but luckily i know that .pif's are executable. Three cheers for firefox however!

My girlfriends got it :( lets find out if uninstalling MSN then running AVG gets rid of it, else im reformatting her laptop when im up there next weekend

Could somebody email me the link? I'm curious, and have a test machine I'm wanting to try it out on.

Click my signature for email.

What exactly does this virus do? Because no one is replying to me.. But I am sudenly unable to access hotmail, google etc...

My brother managed to install it and I've spent most of tonight getting rid of the bloody thing :(

It's basically a trojan horse and comes with a whole host of other goodies like Zango and Starware etc.
