Friends computer, strange beeping noise

Afternoon all,

My mate has a computer which every so often will start making beeping noises, it occurs most often when watching videos in Youtube (and other flash based sites), listening to music and sometimes when watching films. It must be coming from the motherboard/case as when the speakers are turned off the problem is still there! Ill try and get the spec of the computer and post it in a minute.

In the mean time id be hugely greatful for any help!

im no expert but beeps coming from the motherboard indicate a problem with different numbers of beeps telling you what the problem is,count them and post the number of beeps here and im sure someone with more knowledge on the subject could tell you what is wrong

my old PC would start making quite loud beeping noises if orthos or prime95 failed. Would only stop doing it when i reset. I found this out when i left the PC on over-night stress testing

No it never stops, he has to reset!

sounds like it getting hot, give the fans a good clean and leave the side or door off of the case. then give it another try.

a p4 i had, had a heat warning in the bios, if it got hot the beeper came on.
