Hey there Folks how's it going? So im Building a PC for my friend all he really plays is MW3 and Some Racing Games the build below is what i have come up with, Also not sure if a 1080p or 1440p Monitor would be best suited for him, he will be running comp settings in MW3 the same as me for max fps and visibility.

Any Advice is Greatly Appreciated and if anyone has MW3 with Similar Specs and doesn't mind running a benchmark for me that would be helpful

The frame rate will be higher @ 1080p, so if frame rate is king then that's the one to get, but the overall gaming experience is better @ 1440p, in my opinion. The impact of 1440p and pixel pitch on competitive gaming, I don't know enough to say.

Is that panel VA?

A price on the other parts would be helpful.

yea i know but i think the system should be fast enough for 144/165hz at 1440p low settings

Also the Panel is VA im pretty certain but have found a cheaper 1440p monitor

Sorry Forgot to add prices as there from various sources but basically the prices as are followed in Pounds CPU-200 MB- 120 RAM-105 SSD- 65 GPU-350 Case-55 PSU-75 Monitor is under 200 pounds plus looking at adding a decent air cooler for about 30 pounds.

all he really plays is ... and Some Racing Games

For racing games I recommend an ultrawide monitor - typically IPS 3440x1440 these days - and a decent steering wheel.

Try to get Medium settings at least for the racing games.

if your friend is serious about comp settings then 1080p 240hz should be the target
what's the total budget?
i mean he's not that good tbh and plays zombies a lot so i think the better picture quality of 1440p would be more suited.
he said 1400 but im getting it around 1200 atm with monitor

I have to agree with everyone else that spending the extra is well worth it. For that extra £200 he'll be able to skip an extra generation or two of GPU.

If he's given you a budget of £1,400 then I'd use that budget to get him the best system you can. It's not like he's specified a £1,200 budget and you're trying to get him to spend more than he's able to.

True but i think the 1400 budget at the start was speculative the build ive got for 1000 pounds excluding monitor i dont think you will find a better one imo

For 1440p, a 7600 and 6750 XT is a plenty capable system for a casual gamer, though I can also understand the argument of getting the 7800 XT. That or the 4070 are what I'd suggest now for new 1440p builds, just because of how demanding newer games are.

Yes i agree but he's a very casual gamer like all he plays is COD,Fifa and F1 he's not going to be playing any demanding AAA single player games for example.

Sounds like you've already made your mind up to be honest. The 6750 XT would be fine for casual gaming but the 7800 XT will get him higher FPS for longer, especially if he's looking to max out the refresh rate on a 165 Hz 1440p monitor.

On the monitor front I'd go IPS if he's playing fast-paced stuff like CoD and racing games.

Ive spoken to him and he's happy to go with the 6750 XT he can always get my 7800xt in few years thanks again for all the replies

i know you've made your choice, reading this a bit late, but only £130 more now for a 7800xt...price /performance is worth it..even the 7700xt is worth it(but not to same extent)...you're already spenssding £1200, so a 10.8% overall cost increase for a 40%+ gaming boost is a no brainer in my view...the cost of change to upgrade will be more than initial £130 price now so makes no sense to me

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £483.98 (includes delivery: £3.99)

already suggested it earlier in the thread. got told no.
reminds me of the saying, buy cheap...buy twice

Thanks for the suggestions but he's not willing to spend the extra and will upgrade GPU at a later date gonna wait and see what the 7600 XT brings to the table before bitting the bullet he seems reluctant to even pay the 1k build tbh
