Friends pc

.if really want the extra fans
Those are always available in b grade section
A lot cheaper

Would agree 9850x3d if for gaming
Rather get the better CPU
And b grade fans to offset some of the cost
I buy b grade fans often never been anything wrong with them
Yeah that's a good point always avoided b grade tbh but yeah could save on the different ram that the other guy mentioned and upgrade the CPU.

I have changed the ram to the v colour ones
When he goes to purchase will check the b grade for the fans see if they have them in gonna upgrade the CPU now as well

Yeah didn't think about a partition tbh but then still takes up some of the 2tb space when games are very big in space nowadays but noted,

So why waste an NvME slot on a tiny SSD? He can add storage down the line, but if he's already populating slots he'll need to swap out the initial purchase, at least go for a 1tb primary drive or a couple of 2tb's.

Which boards are they?

If he's glued to ATX:

My basket at OcUK:
Total: GBP456.92 (includes delivery: GBP7.99)

There's more M-ATX options.

I couldn't find any ram cheaper that was of same branded as rather use something I know of.

Most companies don't actually make their own chips, pretty much everything you buy is made by either Samsung, SK Hynix, or Micron and then rebranded. The only real exception was Micron who owned the now defunct Crucial, but they've since shut down that arm of their business.

If it's within budget
Still would say get the second drive
Clone drive 1 to it,or put image backups on it
And can still put games there too
A partition means everything on 1 drive no backup
Just my must have a backup plan way of thinking

you could drop to a 850w psu, but the asus 1kw psu that we've both specced is a very keen price currently. i'd just keep it tbh

i'd get the £90 one if you really want to drop down to a 850w psu, decent £25 saving fwiw
the £105 ones i'd just rather stick with the asus
