Just checked my bank account and noticed a DD had gone out for ~£40 for a company called friends life. I have cancelled it as I have no idea who this is.

after Googling notice they do pensions and other things, my pension is through my work and comes straight from my paypack.

is this a scam? or am I being a bit light headed?

My workplace pension is with them, though I pay pennies each month as I have been paying into a private pension with Aviva for 18 years now. I'm aware that I'd be better off paying into the workplace pension as my employer pays more or less the same as I do, but I don't want to start changing things for tax relief reasons (AFAIK I'm close to reaching the limit I can receive tax relief for Pension contributions) & I really don't know what the recent future holds for me as far as my job is concerned.

I wonder if I can combine the two without paying a penalty?

I rang the number I found and it just said number has been disconnected but still received calls made me panic.

Spoke to the Mrs it might be my new life insurance, I really should keep better note of my financials

The annual allowance for pension contributions is your pensionable income (normally salary) up to an annual limit of £40,000. Only a tiny proportion of people contribute up to that level.

The lifetime allowance is £1.25 million, based on fund size rather than contributions.

Based on what you said above it is highly unlikely you're going to exceed the limits for tax relief on your pension contributions.

In the defense of Kaptain Marc, if they have changed their name without warning then they can expect Direct Debits to be cancelled.

Watch your back op and don't take up your other half offering to make you some toast next time your in the bath...

Don't life insurance usually need to run for a period of time before there's a payout to the spouse?

Between now and that run in period, you're safe OP :p

Careful OP, you need to take precautions. You're worth more to her dead now.

Do what I do, and always give a mouthful of your food to the kids before eating any yourself.
