Opinions on this? I haven't seen much of Bute but get the impression he, like Ward, will be a bit too slick for Carl and will take a points decision easily despite it being in Nottingham. I can see Froch getting slowed down a bit body shots and not having much left in the tank for the championship rounds when he needs to turn it on.

I would have course love to be proven wrong and for Carl to score a famous victory.

Never really liked Froch but he's impressed me over the last few years with the level of opponent he's faced, hasn't ducked anyone.

Having said that, he's always been an incredibly slow and one dimensional fighter and he got embarrassed against the hit and run tactics of Ward. Also thought he lost against Dirrell, who employed similar tactics, a few years earlier.

Don't know much about Bute but if he stands toe to toe he'll get dropped, if he picks his punches and has a good defence I can see a close (for close read heavily biased in Froch's favour) points victory.

probably pretty late as i think its on till 1am ish.

Got bute via decision, he's a great boxer and should run rings around Froch.

I'm not a great admirer of Froch but hard to pick who will win this one, seeing as Bute hasn't fought anyone like Froch before.

What other fights are on the card?

Depends entirely on what level Bute is, we'll find out tonight because as of this moment you simply cannot compare their records.

Froch is good at what he does, he's not quite one dimensional but he's not far off it. I'm going with Froch though, I remain to be convinced that Bute's record isn't padded.

One thing that I do see as a potential issue at some point in Froch's career is his confidence in his chin, I think he truly believes he can't be ko'd. His chin is very good, but it's not exactly a Roy Nelson like chin (but then I don't think the terminator has as good a chin as Roy Nelson :p). Maybe he should have a look at Margarito if he wants to see what happens if you keep going in to fights believing you can't be ko'd.

Glen Johnson and Jesse Brinkley from (The Contender) not exactly Andre Ward or Mikkel Kessler.

Be interesting to see but the more I think about it, The more i see a Froch win.

It is hard not to like Froch... He isn't blessed with quick hands or slick movement but has really made the most of what he has got. He has spent his career fighting the big names... Boxing would be in a much better state if all fighters had his attitude.

It's sad that he's not as recognised as he should be tbh. And I agree, there would be a lot more interesting fights if people just got in the ring and got on with the right fight for the sport, not for themselves.

Good sports night tonight, ufc on later as well.

I reakon Bute's got this one although will be routing for the cobra.

Was it just me or is freddy flintoff smashed out of his face :D

Got to hand it to Bute really surprised he's taken this fight on in Nottingham considering he is the champion, must have been much better financially for him than making Froch come to Canada!

Good fighter Froch but he's had a lot of wars over the last 3 years and has fought every top Super middleweight there is hopefully they haven't taken their toll.

To be fair to him he has just completed a huge bike ride for charity :o

Take it this hasn't got any US TV showing it else we'd have had Buffer or Jimmy Lennon Jr going the MC work!

John Macdonald is Barry Hearns regular MC he does everything for him from Darts to Snooker!
