Froch Vs Bute

there is no standing 8 count in world title fights. bute was out of his feet taking clean hard punches, on the ropes and ready to go anyway.

It was'nt an 8 count. the ref was counting a knockdown as he was only held up by the ropes. He got up off the ropes when his corner walked over. The fight wasn't officially over when Hearn jumped in.

After the ref waved it off then thought about it , it certainly seemed to me he gave a standing eight count. Either the way the fact the Fred even thought about after his head rocked backed like that is dangerous.

His chance as world champ was given in the previous rounds. Ref is lucky bute didn't suffer serious damage :)

The fight was stopped at the correct time... That is all that matters IMO.

I don't really think the ref knew what he was doing full stop. As soon as the eyes and head roll from a punch, that is pretty much game over. He should have been in then. Instead he let him take a few more. A few more that could be fatal.

The last two rounds Bute made it out of he walked back to his corner looking like he'd just had his head stamped on. Shows you what happens when you try to pad their record then make the jump in one go rather than gradually increasing the quality of the opponent. Froch isn't even close to the best in the world, but he is easily world level and just gave Bute the biggest beating I've seen in a boxing ring for a long time.

Oh and tonight officially confirms that Eddie Hearn is an attention seeking gimp.

Froch isn't even close to the best in the world,

dont know about that. froch came second in super 6 which feature most elite fighters in his division. it is clear that he is second best in super middle weight only behind andre ward. even from a pound for pound stand point, he is at least in the top 15 because of his remarkable run of opponents.

i think now he should take a break maybe a easy fight, before a rematch with kessler at light heavy and maybe a bout with other top 10 light heavy weights

It wasn't a close 2nd though was it, hence not even close :p.

If Kessler drops back down I think that's still a 50/50 fight, Ward I don't think he has a chance of beating. I wouldn't mind seeing him try though if he goes at it like he did tonight. He'd most likely still lose, but at least he wouldn't be giving the fight away like he did in the first fight.

mmm...the first fight was close, if that was anywhere else other than demark, kessler might and probably would have lost. although froch did get unusually sloppy in the late round, where he usually come on strong.

after watching kessler getting dropped by alan green (a guy got stopped by a 40 year old coming down in weight, hardly a contender, and a known choker) i think froch would win a clear decision if they fight again and not in demark.

andre ward only fights at home like bute. i think he is better than froch, but he wont be anywhere as dominate if he fights away and have a ref to stop him holding and butting.

Were you drunk last night? I never said the fight with Kessler wasn't close.

Yeah, av that...

Beyond the hype, iv'e not seen a decent fight in ages.

You could see the focus in carls eyes, backed it up with one mean mother (*(&*)(* hard guy beating the moment he got through.

Unlike a lot of the crud in the fight game these days, Froch realy puts up... win or lose, total respect.

You surely can't excuse Froch's loss to kessler without also questioning his win over Dirrell. The Dirrell decision was a lot more controversial, but in both cases I felt that Froch lost a close fight. But back to this fight, that was really great work from Froch, he came out of his corner so hungry, and it's not often that I enjoy such a one sided fight so much.

I hope he does get a rematch with Kessler, preferrably on neutral soil (although I doubt there would be enough money in doing that). By the same token, I'd like to see Froch give a rematch to Dirrell in somewhere like Vegas. After that he can retire, there's not much else for him to do at 168. It's a shame we never got to see Froch - Calzaghe though.
