Well i got bored of my samsung galaxy so i swaped it for a HTC touch pro manly due to the htc having a real keyboard. so far i like the htc more then the samsung it seems smother and faster im not to sure if its due to OS or hardware and i hear a lot of people don't like winmo and i don't see why not or is it just cool to hate????? Plus i like all effects winmo dose:D. Dose any one know any good apps & games for the HTC touch pro???

sorry not so much on the knowing of games and apps, but i would like to say i dont understand the hatred of winmo either, its the most functioning mobile OS, with HUGE support behind it and an insane ammount fo features. dont get why its disregarded a lot. guess people prefer the shine and lack of use the iphone has. :(

he's not comparing to the iphone which is totally useless for people wanting a business phone (or people who do not want to look like a try hard) he's comparing to google. Having move from a diamond touch - the worst phone experience I have had with a slow, grinding OS to a magic with android, the slickest and most pleasurable phone experience I have had with perfect integration with my google aps run business, there is no comparison. win mo is rubbish compared to android

well winmo is horrendus to navigate in some menues that HTC have not skinned.
Its clearly designed for a stylus the damn check boxes and buttons are tiny. So frustrating

I like the HTC front end on winmo mobiles, but the UI just doesnt go deep enough into the operating system to totally block out winmo, so due to it being a mish mash of front end UI and winmo OS I dont really like using winmo mobiles as they just lack fluency in their use. However, that was a touch diamond so things might have changed now.

Nothing wrong with Winmo. Its functional, integrates well with Windows and is extremely customisable.

Ive had a HTC Magic which I owned for the sum total of 5 weeks before I flogged it.

Its not that I didnt like Android it just added nothing new as far as I'm concerned. It did nothing that I couldnt do already on my Touch HD and my Tytn II previous to that.

It even had some gaping holes in functionality such Bluetooth PC sync and transfer which I find very useful and is still the reason I refuse to even look at an Apple or Android based handset now.

That for one is a bloody massive exclusion for me, as phones have been doing that for years prior to Android.

But then again what do I know because I actually like Symbian S60 5th as well.

The problem with WinMo is that it only runs usably well on a handful of phones.

If the OP means the Touch Pro, and not the Touch Pro2, then he has a pretty old phone that won't run WinMo as well as it can be.

Faster phones like the Touch Pro2, HD2 and Omnia Pro offer a much better WinMo experience.

I had winmo on my Diamond2 but had a few problems with it crashing & also running slow.
Also had some problems with the GPS when using tomtom but that may have been the phone
I'm looking at moving to Android atm and have gone back to using my k800i

The htc skinned interface is ok, I put new ROM with sense on and it seemed ok but didn't really like it that much.
I think android looks a lot better to use & I like the idea of an app store :)

The main things I used on wimo:
htc sense (email/sms/phone/image/twitter)
tomtom (GPS)
bejeweled 2
opera
youtube

There were a few other apps I was using to free up memory also but can't remember what they were called

The Touch Pro and Touch Pro2 have pretty much exactly the same processor running at exactly the same speed.

Also he seems to be missing the HD from the list too...:p

IMO the HD was the turning point for WinMo, before the phones were ok but tbh could be pretty terrible (touch Diamond) but after the HD there hasn't really been a bad WinMo phone (at least where HTC are concerned), most of the other phones were just modified HD's (same processor and ram etc but different sized screens and qwerty keyboards).

I agree. I loved my Tytn II but it was frustrating at times with slowdown and I had to make sure it got rebooted at least once a day as no matter what I did it just sucked up the little ram that it had.

Things improved loads though once various modders started chucking a number of 6.5 roms and I was pleasantly surprised how quick the Tytn II was with a number of roms.

Once I'd got my hands on a TouchHD though and got 6.5 on it, well it felt like a different device. Still love it and use it today.

One things thats gets missed on the Touch HD imo is the battery life. It bloody awesome with my current rom. I'm getting almost 4 days charge on medium use with it pulling e-mails down every 30 mins. (no GPS or Wi-Fi)

I suspect the next phone on my radar (HD2 obviously) will not be as good in terms of battery.

4 days is impressive! I get around 3 days usually, with around a day if i'm playing loads of games and browsing the web a lot.

I was very impressed with the gps battery life last week. I had it on all day and the battery was only on 30%. :)

How easy is it to put a modded 6.5 on a touch pro iv never change a fones op system before. Also my fone is a unlocked Tmoblie and i use O2 if i change to 6.5 will it lock my fone????

No it wont lock your handset buddy.

Everything you need to know about modding your Touch Pro is here.

But I implore you to read the stickies and then read them again before you even attempt a flash or you may brick your phone.

Before flashing a rom, also check which Radio the modder has tested his rom with as it will be best to use that same radio as well.
