yep agreed, I have tried to listen to all the albums but they just don't sound right without Ozzy or Dio
Just had a thought, you may well like to listen to the Nativity in Black tribute albums. I have never really bothered with cover versions but there are some great renditions on those discs by some equally great bands.

actually a very good point; I love pitch shifters cover of NIB...and ultraviolence's cover of paranoid.

Hopkins is a classic, Vincent Price and Wilfrid Brambell dialogues give it that edge! :D

Check out Cathedral (The Carnival Bizarre CD amongst others), kind of a modern day cheesy Sabbath tribute band without admitting it. It is what makes them so great!! :D

I think Holy Diver is the best album Dio ever put out, every song is great.

As for Sabbath, I count myself as a fan, they're ok, but nothing that special in my book.

Personally I think The Beetles sucked. Could never understand the big following. But they were a big influence. Music's a personal thing. One mans trash is another mans gold.

how can anyone hate the beatles?

I first saw Sabbath in 1971 and saw them at least 7 times up until the point Van Halen supported them around 78. To me Sabbath went down as soon as Ozzy left and even though I bought all their albums I couldn't get on with them. In fact I didn't really like the last two Sabbath albums with Ozzy.
Old Sabbath are one of my major influences and I love them to death. My band already does Children Of The Grave, Sabbra Cadabra, A National Acrobat and Paranoid. We are planning to do Supernaut, Sympton of the Universe and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath.
One of my all time favourite singers is Rob Halford from Judas Priest and I have a bootleg of him singing with Sabbath at an Ozzfest when Ozzy was ill - now that is one voice that is awful with Sabbath.
