From Dust - "spiritual heir" to Populous

I can see why they are angry though...

The game was due on PC and XBOX today, preorders were due to have the pc version unlocked tonight. Ubisoft comes out and delays the pc version by upto a month for no real reason whatsoerver. Whereas XBOX version is still for sale... Ubisoft keep doing it again and again to pc customers, hence the anger
 
Well i'll definetly be buying this when it eventually comes out, having thread through the whole thread to discover it was posted a year ago I wondered if it had been released already, interesting it was due for release today and i'd not heard anything of it before reading this thread. Populous was epic back in the day and I can imagine this will only get better ;)

Minus all this ubisoft hatred, which tbh I can totally understand.
 
I just reinstalled populous and the patches to make it work on win 7, but the menus and parts of the game have lots of glitches :(
 
Quite fun actually, not sure how repetitive it will get from the demo though (XBLA)

Might wait for the PC release for the mouse support although it doesn't seem that important from the demo.
 
this is excellent, the landscaping you can do is really easy, and the controls sensible for the 360 controller

on map 4 now and I spent an absolute age just mucking about with the big volcano and directing lava flows to create new land, then spent ages redirecting a couple of rivers

if they could just give a free mode and randomly generated landscapes to fill with vegetation and animals I would be happy, I wouldnt even need the villagers!

I was going to say "what you are already playing!?" but now I realise you've tried out xbox 360 demo, right?

So how is it, anything like populous the beginning? I barely remember that game, only memory I got is that I loved it to bits :D

Simples, installed it from the CD to C:\Populous (googling said it had to be installed to C to work), then google for patches 1.01 and 1.03 and install those.

Set The D3D exe file to win 95 compatibility and run as administrator, and it works.

I'm using the original CD, but I felt that the game hasnt really aged very well, and there were some graphical anomolies even with AA and AF disabled :(

I'll try turning off SLI and see if that works. Hmm, no, I just found out that my SLI was already turned off and I didnt know oop.

I still have Populous:The Beginning on the PS1. Get it out from time to time, mainly for the music - love that haunting background track :) May have a look at finding an MP3 of it or something now I think about it lol.
