Hi All,

I have just got a Sony Xperia Z5 Compact. I like the phone and am trying to get to grips with Android Lollipop having used iOS for years.

Admittedly I am trying to replicate certain functionality I had on iOS, but I liked the way it did certain things and they worked well for me.

Here is my last issue I am hoping someone can help solve or advise that it is just not possible.

In iOS I can set a default calender, be it gmail, yahoo, outlook.com. I am currently using Outlook.com.

I can then dictate to Siri to create a "Reminder/Task" or "Appointment/Event" and either will be created in my Outlook.com account.

Now on my Sony, if I dictate to Google voice control to do the same......

It seems to always create the reminder or appointment in my gmail account.

Is it possible to use the Google voice control to create a task/reminder or appointment in my Outlook.com account or is it restricted to Google accounts?

Hope some can clarify.

I think (I could be wrong on this) that Google Now will use the Google account for all reminders etc set with the voice function.

The only saving grace is the changes in the latest android will allow deep functionality for other voice assistants (e.g. Cortana/Hound). So you may find over the coming months you'll be able to have a Cortana assistant do what you want and link directly into Outlook.

Hi Scottland,

Thank you kindly for your response. I think you may be right as I just don't see any other setting that would allow me to change which it uses.

Thanks again.

Hi undergrove,

Thank you for your input. I don't see how changing the calendar app is going to enable Google Now voice control but admittedly I like the look of the UI and will give it a try if even only for that. Please let me know if I am wrong.

I think Scottland may be right about the voice integration, if Google Now doesn't allow it in the future then I may be reliant on another voice assistant...if one comes along.

Cortana has already been spotted in beta guise already, Hound is also available and may already offer you some of what you want.

Oh right, thank you Scottland. I see Hound in the Google Play store and I have requested an invite. I will keep an eye out for Cortana or any other virtual assistants.

And thanks undergroove, Sunrise is currently my default Calendar app.

Microsoft bought Sunrise, they also own Wunderlist - so you may well find sooner or later Cortana works well with these for Calendar and Todo lists.

Yeah I did notice that Sunrise was a Microsoft app. The only thing I have found with Sunrise is that it does not seem to show reminders/tasks. While I would prefer to have reminders/task and appointments within the same app/account, I will take a look at Wunderlist.

I did check out Cortana but after registering my gmail account for a beta trial, it redirected me to an invalid link. I wonder if like Hound it is US only.

Thanks
